An Historic Bed & Breakfast in Georgetown, Texas.

Treat yourself, family and friends to a unique bed & breakfast experience with a stay at the historic San Gabriel House, located across from Southwestern University, in the Olive Street National Historic District of Georgetown, Texas.

This Arts-and-Crafts-style mansion on the corner of University Ave. and Olive Street was originally constructed in 1904 by prolific builder C. S. Belford Lumber Company for Dr. Hyer, regent for Southwestern University. Dr. Hyer sold it to W. R. Sells and his wife, Olive Traylor Sells, whose children were to attend Southwestern University across the avenue. After a devastating fire in 1918, the home was restored and expanded in 1919, again by Belford Lumber Company, to accommodate a large and socially prominent family.

The stately manor features a generous wrap-around veranda with heart-pine flooring, original beveled and leaded glass doors and windows, grand foyer with original mahogany woodwork, spacious dining room, and elegant parlors. Cherished over the years by other well-known Georgetown families including Dr. Rice and his wife Jewel, the Hendersons, and the Brooks, the mansion was restored to historic splendor by the Milburns in the late ‘90s and was converted to a bed & breakfast by the Wileys in 2000. For 13 years Dee & Neil Rapp established the standards for the inn’s majestic and welcoming presence.

Now owned by Georgetown native Jeannie Snead, San Gabriel House remains Georgetown's foremost bed & breakfast establishment.

Today, you can experience the historic San Gabriel House Bed & Breakfast with a stay in one of our five luxurious second-floor bedrooms, all with pillow-top king beds and private baths, or in the second-floor Carriage House suite, with king bed, daybed, and kitchenette. Relax under the pecan trees in the secluded, beautifully landscaped back yard. Experience grace, splendor, and hospitality in one of Georgetown’s significant remaining historic homes.
